My Roller Furling Genoa is hard to furl, what can I do?
Chances are that if your RF Headsail is hard to furl you either have a problem with the bearings in the unit or you are having halyard wraps. If your bearing are bad, which is unlikely, the only option is to service or replace the bearings. It is more likely you have a halyard wrap and need to install a pendant at the top of the headsail or a halyard restrainer on your mast or both. The jib halyard will wrap if the angle of the halyard at the swivel to the sheave is less than 10 degrees from the headstay. By installing a halyard restrainer on your mast you can increase the angle of the halyard and your furler should work great. See the Diagram below Courtesy of Furlex.
